Beautiful Fall Days!!!

We have just returned from a field trip with our homeschool group and it was so much fun. The field trip was to a local farm, Confreda Farms, for a great corn maze and pumpkin picking. I was able to find my way out which I am glad since I don't have any sense of direction. Usually my husband will ask me which way I think we should go and then he goes the opposite way. That's the joke in our family!!! I told him before I left that if I wasn't home when he got home from work to go look for me in the corn maze. Well, I was thrilled that I wasn't even the last one to find my way out. Although, I did find alot of dead ends I made it out. Everyone at the farm was great, such a nice staff. I am just glad that everyone who went enjoyed it.

I saw this on my friends Charity and Heidi's blog and thought it would be fun to try.

Fall Time and Some Favorites

I just love fall it is one of my absolute favorite seasons. I just can't say it enough. Sunday we will be attending a Fall Festival in a nearby town. This has become a tradition for us, we usually attend with my sister in law and have a great time. I will try to remember my camera and take some pictures of all the fun we have. Unfortunately, I have one of the worse cameras and the pictures are not that great but it will have to do for now. I can't wait to get a new camera.

This is the pattern for the ponch my daughter chose. She is waiting patiently while I try to finish it. She chose different colors because she wanted it to match with everything.

Here is the first side completed and I am just starting on the second side. I will try to get it finished this weekend but I can't make any promises. She would love it if I could finish this weekend. I hope I can.

I recently borrowed the May issue of Country Living from the library. It is one of my favorite magazines. I just wanted to share some pictures that I just love from this issue. This would be my dream kitchen. Not modern but more old world and vintage. I absolutely love that stove and the chalkboard.

This is a fabulous dining room. I love all the light that is ocming in and the muted and natural colors. It is just perfect to me.

I just love the simple yet inviting touches that you see here. That is what I would love to do in our home.
Sorry for the poor picture quality. I need a new camera. I will add it to the Christmas wish list.
I also picked up a most awesome book on heirloom gardening. I have joined MJ Heirloom Mavens and with every little seed we will try to preserve these heirlooms. It is scary to think what the big companies are doing to our food supply. That will be a post for another day but it is definitely something to look into. One book I recommend to start with is Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingslover. It will be an eye opener. You will never look at grocery store items the same. It has really opened my eyes to what is happening to our food supply and what we can do to change that.

I love the colorful photos. It brings all the heirlooms to life. It is an amazing book with wonderful descriptions of heirlooms and information on where you can find heirloom seeds. I am enjoying it more than I can even explain.

I hope you all enjoy your weekend. Don't be shy, make sure you leave a comment and say hi!!!

New things, Pictures and Fun things!

I have so much to post and many pictures to share with you. One of the first pictures I want to share with you is this wonderful sewing machine that my dear husband surprised me with. I have so much to learn about it. It has so many embroidery stitches and alot of other excellent features. I can't wait to show you all the pretty things I make with it.

I have been having some fun putting our our fall decorations. I had some wreaths and other things I had made for a craft show last year. They were left over and just sitting in the basement. I decided to go through the bin and see what goodies I could find.

I had made this wreath and scarecrow separately. I decided to combine them. I think it looks great and I have it hanging on my door to welcome fall. Fall is one of my favorite seasons. I love the cool, crisp weather and the wonderful smells. It is wonderful to be able to turn on the oven and make all kinds of wonderful meals. I miss baking in the summer. It is too warm and I don't like to turn on the oven but once the cool weather approaches I have the oven going all the time.

These pictures are of our living room curtains. It is hard to see but the trim is added to the edges of the curtain. I was so glad to complete this project and hang up the curtains. Of course that involved some major window cleaning. They were a bit neglected from all the days of crocheting and sewing this trim.
Dear hubby had a birthday last week. I decided to make him some sweet treats. I made sugar cookies and these yummy chocolate covered pretzel rods.

Here is our greenhouse in the making. I saw the plans for this in the MaryJane's Farm~July/August issue. Hubby asked his friend to come and help since he had a broken foot. It still needs the back and then the plastic. If we have a weekend with no rain hubby will be able to finish it off. I will have lettuce, kale and some herbs in here through the winter. I hope they grow well. I will also start our seeds for next year here.
I am working on a tutorial for the scarves I made. I will have more details about that next week. There is also going to be giveaways for both of the scarves you see. Check back soon for more details.
Have a great weekend!!

Things I have worked on

I was busy for some time this summer working on this trim. I made enough of it to add it to the curtains in our living room. There are eight tab top curtains (84 inches each) that were expensive but I was tired of looking at them the same all the time. So I got busy and made enough trim for all the curtains. I hope to upload a picture of the finished curtains soon. I made two of these scarves recently. They are made with ribbon yarn. I love the colors in this one they remind me of fall, my favorite season. I am hoping to make a couple more with a black/white pattern in the yarn. These scarves are very lightweight.

I would love to sell these scarves. If anyone is interested please leave me a comment with your email. They will be $22 each. I will measure them and give you the exact measurements if you are interested.
Today is my dear husband's birthday. We are not buying gifts for each others birthdays because we both made big purchases earlier in the year that we will count as our birthday presents. Instead of buying him things I made some treats to satisfy his sweet tooth. I made sugar cookies and chocolate covered pretzels.
When we were finished with school we went apple picking. The farm was great and had some really wonderful animals. We were able to feed the ponies, donkeys and goats some apples because it's not a weekend. On the weekend they can't allow people to feed them because they get overfed. The goats were my favorite. There were some adorable baby goats. We had so much fun. What a blessing to be able to have some family fun. I enjoy doing things that will give us many happy memories.
I am hoping to make it to the bookstore tomorrow. My daughter has the Brisingr book on hold and I am looking forward to the new Mary Janes Farm magazine. I hope our bookstore has received it. I don't think I could wait another minute. On our ride up to the farm today. I took the last issue with me and enjoyed it all over again. I could reread it a thousand times. It is definitely eye candy. I enjoy it from cover to cover. One of my favorite things are the sewing and handcrafts. I love the bloomers in the last issue. Can anything make you feel more like a lady than wearing those lace bloomers? The Prairie Skirts and Roundup Skirts are on my to do list. I would love to make these skirts for myself. While my eyes are feasting on all the beautiful pictures in this magazine, I am also learning so much. I love to read the tips, Every Woman Has a Story and the Newsroom. So much to learn all sandwiched into the delightful covers of this magazine. This is why I can't wait another minute to purchase and savor the new issue.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Farm Girl

I am a farm girl at heart. I have always dreamed of living on a farm surrounded by animals. I remember when I was about 9 years old my class went on a field trip to a local, historical farm. It was in the spring and the lambs had recently been born. I clearly remember sitting and feeding the lambs with a bottle. From that time on I have always wanted to have my own farm. This is a dream that I will never let go and someday, I pray it will come true. When I dream of my farm I hope to someday have:

Aren't these goats just adorable? I would definitely love to have some of them living on my farm.

A pen full of chickens and a beautiful hen house would make my farm a happy place for me.

Of course, my farm would not be complete without the baby sheep that first tugged at my heart.

This is the dream that I hold onto. I know someday I will live on my farm. I just hope it is sooner rather than later.

I also wanted to share with you a site that I stumbled upon the other day. If you have not visited
Jessie Steele's site you should. She has some of the cutest aprons and tea towels. Here are some of my favorite's from her site:
I love aprons and the three of these caught my eye. I think they are so flattering and pretty. I will be sewing my own aprons soon. I have some ideas that I'm working on.

I also look forward to opening my own Etsy shop soon. Come back soon for more details.

Have a great weekend!!!!
